聽列諾布仁波切在讀完教宗若望保羅二世所著《跨越希望的門檻（Grossing the Threshold of Hope）》一書後，針對書中對佛教有所誤解的部分，為了避免造成世人因而對佛教——包括佛教以外的其他宗教——有觀念上的偏差，所提出的解釋與厘清。
綜觀全書，看不出仁波切對教宗所提出有關佛教之論點有絲毫嚴厲的批評與指責，反之，仁波切所展現的是藏傳因明學的嚴密、邏輯清晰的辯才無礙，以及對於所有宗教的包容與尊重。佛陀教法給予眾生無限的自由，不為任何時間、空間所局限，使眾生由這分自在出發，進而體悟佛法的精髓——慈悲、智慧與寬容，而這也正是仁波切回應教宗對於佛教誤解觀念下之最初也是最終的論點。
正如本書前言所敘——純淨的希望之門檻，灑下迎賓花絮——願眾生雙手合十，同心祈求諸佛菩薩慈悲智慧所加持之芳芬花絮，充滿所有地方。

即使在某些佛學的教法裏提及放棄世間，但這並非指世界是客觀的真實或邪惡的標的，而是指停留在二元的習氣裏會導致邪惡之相——它來自於自己個人的意念，同樣的，有些時候當它說到世界必須變空時，並不是要殺害任何人，而是要人摧毀自己的仇恨、執著與負面的習性，也就是清淨自己的邪惡，不為任何人帶來困擾——這便是大愛。依於小乘的觀點，個人的愛欲為證悟之道的敵障，因此須經由禪定去殲滅它們；既然自我是愛欲之源，便藉此來清淨自我。
